Blogspot/Blogger is one of the most popular free platform on which users can create a blog or web page. Blogspot is the product of Google and was launched in 1999.   First and foremost thing that you must do is buy a top level domain for your blog.You can get your custom domain name from various companies but we recommend Godaddy. Because of their fast service and easy UI experience. Do put a thought in the process of buying domain name. Make sure to go for the top level domain ie .com, instead of .info or other TLDs  Next, go to your Blogspot account and go to Settings > Basic.

When you hit save Blogspot will give you a message saying ” we are not able to verify your authority to this domain.

When you hit save Blogspot will give you a message saying ” we are not able to verify your authority to this domain.”  And with that Blogspot will provide you with two CNAMEs as shown in the figure below.Now that you have the CNAMEs for our domain name. Go ahead and login to your Godaddy account click on manage domains and move to DNS of your domain.

Here we will need to add two types of records, CNAMEs, and A records, to point your blog to this specific domain name. In order to do so, click on DNS or manage DNS. Click on add a record and from the drop down selection select CNAME.  Here we will enter the two CNAMEs given by Blogspot.

  • In host put WWW and in points to put then save it and add another record.
  • Here in host put the short portion and in points to area put the long one and hit save.


Now you need to add A records to complete the process to add custom domain for blogger. A record are IPs and will help to point your blog to the custom domain name.

To do so add a new record in DNS and select A record. In host area put @ and in points to add this

You will need to do this step 4 times while using these IPs respectively.

Now that you have added the required record in your domain name setting. Head back to your Blogspot account settings > Basic, there click on setup third-party URL enter your URL and then save it. And this time there will be no error.

And if you were on the old page where it had given you the error, just go ahead and click save and you are done. One quick thing edit the redirects ie click on the box that will enable your blog to redirect to
